Biography
Samuel Tosto is a musician, composer, and sound designer whose work spans film scoring, video game music, original composition, and live performance. He began playing guitar at age 12, with early roots in rock and metal, and later expanded into country, blues, and a broader multi-instrumental approach that continues to shape his work today.
Originally drawn to songwriting and performance, Samuel’s creative path grew into a deeper focus on composition and music for visual media. As a multi-instrumentalist working with guitar, bass guitar, drum set, piano, ukulele, and vocals, he brings a practical performer’s perspective to every project.
Samuel holds a Master of Fine Arts in Film Music Composition from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, where he studied from 2022 to 2024. There, he refined his voice as a composer for picture, developing original scores and studying how music supports story, pacing, and emotion. His thesis focused on cues from Hey Arnold!, reflecting his strong interest in the craft of screen scoring and musical storytelling.
His work as a composer is centered on writing music that serves the larger dramatic whole. Whether for film, games, or standalone projects, Samuel approaches each piece with a focus on structure, atmosphere, and emotional clarity. In addition to his screen-based work, he also creates original music in styles ranging from cinematic composition to Christian metal, bringing the same commitment to depth, purpose, and artistic honesty across everything he does.
